This is how sustainable film production works
The production of cinema, TV and online/VoD productions causes high CO₂ emissions. But by switching to a more environmentally friendly and resource-efficient production method, a significant portion of these CO₂ emissions can be avoided.
For this reason, the “Green Shooting” working group, the State Minister for Culture and Media, the film funding agencies of the federal states and the Federal Film Board (FFA) have agreed on nationwide, uniform ecological standards for audiovisual production throughout Germany.
These ecological standards are based on the ecological minimum standards of the "Green Shooting" working group, which came into force on January 1, 2022, and apply EXCLUSIVELY to the production sector. Since July 1, 2023, compliance with the new ecological standards has been a nationwide requirement for all publicly funded cinema, TV and online/VoD productions in Germany.
